I had debated on a Maha, but was all ready disappointed from my CF-401 4 cell chargers. I needed something that I could keep at the house or travel with as I have four kids plus my RC cars. I didn't need a less than 2 hour charger as most know the speed chargers fry the batteries and cut their charging life in half. So, after seeing the video on you tube that the first reviewer put up I was sold on giving this one a try.I like that this one holds 16 batteries, double any other competitor. It does have a solid feel and is not even as wide as a standard 14" laptop. It discharges and charges exceptionally well as I have seen an improvement in some of my older batteries that were on their way to the trash (even with the Maha charger). I have charged/discharged 2000 mAh Eneloops, 1800 mAh Energizers, 2000 and 2450 mAh Duracells and 2700 mAh PowerEx with no issues. I like the... (I'm a photographer and I have a ton of AA batteries to charge for my flash) When I received it my first thought was that it has very nice build quality (it feels solid not cheap). And for being a 16 battery charger its not as big as I thought it would be. I immediately plugged it in and started discharging all of my first set of AAs to test the conditioning of the charger and it worked well, a lill slower then I would have liked but well. (it discharged and charged them over night with no problems at all). Ironically, the Maha charger ended up being the one that I was disappointed with and this became my go to charger. I even consider it more portable than the Maha since it's skinnier and it's transformer is much smaller (although it is slightly longer).Again, I can only speak for charging eneloop XX batteries (I use the for professional photography), but this charger does the job great.
