The battery was a five year battery which was four years and eleven months old. When I went back - the battery measured 0 volts. I had just received the Scvhumacher 3600, but had not unpacked it. I tried my 400 peak amp; 900 peak amp jump starter. No dice! I unpacked the Schumacher, plugged it in and let it charge overnight, although the digital readout showed 100% charge. Next morning, hooked it up, turned it on, let it sit for about five minutes. The car started immediately. I had to run on the alternator to the parts house for a new battery. I used to have some piddly little jump starter, which would occasionally work, but often just fail.This unit is different. This just works. Always. It has a useful display, indicating volts and charge capacity, lets you jump a car many times before recharging, and will work for literally months between charges. I've jumped dozens of cars using this unit and never had a problem. You're going to have to buy an extension cord to charge it from the wall. $2 at Home Depot. Two prongs, non-polarised. If you have to buy a portable jump starter, whether to keep in your truck, the back of your car, or just your garage, think about whether you're willing to tolerate it failing right when you need it to work. Buy once, and buy right. You'll save money and grief if you just get the best up front. |
